Every year, the Panaxeo Coding Arena opens its gates. The hot sand sears, the crowd cheers, and the contestants ready their weapons.
Make no mistake, in this Arena, brawn is of no consequence. For the gladiators must sharpen their brains.
Alas, the Coding Arena always has been and forever will be exclusive to Panaxeans. Such is the way…
Despair not! This year, the gates open!
Come one, come all, raise your fighting (coding) spirit and enter!
Be the best of the best, rise higher than the rest and claim your own place amidst the Myths and the Legends, the Ultimate Champions of yore, in the Eternal Hall of Fame and Glory.
The winner will also gain the right to call themselves a proper Panaxean – for a paid internship will be bestowed upon them, joining our merry band of coders. Naturally, that is not all. We shall also award the champion with gifts and prizes.
What challenges will I face? What are the rules?
A simple beast, but a cunning one: Wordle.
Your task: create a Wordle solver.

How to play?
In each game you guess a 4, 5 or a 6 letter word (based on which kind of game you pick). As you take guesses, the game responds for each letter in your guess whether it is:
The correct letter on the correct position (“Y”)
The correct letter on the incorrect position (“_”)
An incorrect letter not appearing in the word at all (“N”)
Sample Wordle game for a target solution “great” could go as follows:
GUESS: trade RESPONSE: _Y_N_ GUESS: grade RESPONSE: YY_N_ GUESS: great RESPONSE: YYYYY SCORE: 3 (guesses)
That’s it.
Potential solutions
When you start a new game, the server provides you with a list of potential solutions. One of these is guaranteed to be the word you have to guess.
This list changes from game to game, but is always of the same size (3200 words); in fact it is always a subset of words from the hunspell dictionaries, found here.
All the words only contain lowercase letters without accents (“abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz”).
Your guess word does not need to be part of the list of potential solutions.
Your Mission
Create a Wordle bot that finds the word with as few guesses as possible. You will need to play a few hundred games to enter the leaderboard.
Rock all three leaderboards (4-letter words, 5-letter words, 6-letter words).

Register new player
You register a player with the following HTTP GET call. (You only do this once, before your first game!)
REQUEST: https://wordle.panaxeo.com/register/<string:username>/<string:email>/
username - any string that will be your name :)
email - be honest & we will be able to contact you if you win
RESPONSE:

token - save this; you will need it to start Wordle games
Playing the game
Your start a game with the following HTTP GET call:
REQUEST:
https://wordle.panaxeo.com/start/<string:token>/<int:wordlen>/
token - your player token you got from register/.
wordlen - 4, 5 or 6. Each word length has its own leaderboards.
RESPONSE:
{“gameid”: <your game id>, “candidate_solutions”: [“str1”, “str2”,...]}
gameid - a unique identifier for your new wordle game; you will need to provide this when guessing.
candidate_solutions: array of possible solutions (strings). One of them is guaranteed to be the correct solution for this game.
You guess a word with the following HTTP GET call:
REQUEST: <SERVER_URI>/guess/<gameid>/<word>/
gameid - the game id you got when calling start/
word - your guess; can be anything with proper length
RESPONSE:
HTTP 200: {result:<N letters>}; Y if correct letter & place; N if letter not in solution; _ if correct letter, wrong place.
Response for solution crane and a guess brain would thus be NYYN_
Scoring and Leaderboards
Leaderboards can be found here. There are three of them; one for each word length – 4-letter words, 5-letter words, and 6-letter words. You enter the leaderboard once you have played at least 256 games with your username.
Your score is your average number of guesses over your last 256 games. If you have unfinished games, they count like 10 guesses each.
Who will win? There will be three winners in total. The 6-letter word leaderboard winner, the 5-letter word leaderboard winner (must not be the same person), the 4-letter word leaderboard winner (again, not the same person). The deadline is June 30, 2022, we will evaluate after this date.
Sidenotes
Note 1: The way how the game responds to guesses is intentionally a little different from the original Wordle game (our game has simpler rules on multiple occurrences of the same letter). To avoid any misunderstandings, our evaluator uses the following code:
Note 2: You may have noticed that you can use any N-letter string as a guess word; not only words from the candidate list. Maybe you can find a way to use this to your advantage…
